MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to assign
to an interim study committee the topic of wind farms.
Whereas, Expanding the generation and use of renewable energy
resources in Indiana has the potential to stimulate investment, boost
income for farmers and other landowners, and create high paying
manufacturing and service sector jobs;
Whereas, The use of renewable energy resources may serve as a
hedge against high natural gas prices; and
Whereas, Wind farms may offer promise for the future, but the people
of Indiana should thoroughly study the topic and establish a set of
statewide regulations for the construction and operation of wind
farms: Therefore,
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to an
interim study committee the topic of wind farms.
SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under
the direction of the legislative council and that the committee shall
issue such reports as directed by the council.
