SENATE RESOLUTION

MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

        A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to assign to an interim study committee the topic of wind farms.

    Whereas, Expanding the generation and use of renewable energy resources in Indiana has the potential to stimulate investment, boost income for farmers and other landowners, and create high paying manufacturing and service sector jobs;

    Whereas, The use of renewable energy resources may serve as a hedge against high natural gas prices; and

    Whereas, Wind farms may offer promise for the future, but the people of Indiana should thoroughly study the topic and establish a set of statewide regulations for the construction and operation of wind farms: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to an interim study committee the topic of wind farms.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council and that the committee shall issue such reports as directed by the council.
