SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Carmel High School girls cross country team on their 2011 State Championship.

    Whereas, The impressive efforts of the Carmel High School girls cross country team secured the school's 12th State Championship victory;

    Whereas, After a crushing loss last season, the Greyhounds rallied their spirits and trained even harder this year. That hard work paid off as the cross country team regained the State title;

    Whereas, Unstoppable high school senior, Alex Chitwood, battled back from an ankle injury to clinch a spot on the State Championship team's roster, ultimately proving to be an invaluable addition to this competitive team;

    Whereas, While Chitwood was an inspiring runner for the Greyhounds this year, she was not alone. Along with Juniors Sarah Bennett and Renee Wellman, the girls helped to usher the team to victory;

    Whereas, In the midst of fierce competition, the cross country team remained focused on their strengths and committed to teamwork; and

    Whereas, The hours of dedicated practice and commitment to the sport as demonstrated by the Carmel High School girls cross country team is inspiring, and their State Championship victory was well-deserved: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates the Carmel High School girls cross country team on winning the 2011 State Championship.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Carmel High School girls cross country team, Head Coach Mark Ellington, Athletic Director Jim Inskeep, and the Carmel Clay School board.
