     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding sections 505b and 559a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 505b. The board of directors of a public school academy

 

shall ensure that its curriculum for pupils in grades K to 5

 

includes at least weekly instruction in ethics and character-

 

building.

 

     Sec. 559b. The board of directors of a school of excellence

 

shall ensure that its curriculum for pupils in grades K to 5

 

includes at least weekly instruction in ethics and character-

 

building.
