1.1A Senate resolution
1.2celebrating Reverend Sia Ge Kong.
1.3WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge Kong was born on May 14, 1948, in Xieng Khouang, Laos.
1.4He was a Hmong refugee and a master sergeant within the Special Guerrilla Units who immigrated
1.5to the United States in 1976. He resides in St. Paul with his wife and children; and
1.6WHEREAS, a dedicated family man, Reverend Sia Ge is married to Der Yang and has five
1.7sons and five daughters. They are also blessed with 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;
1.8and
1.9WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge has served his family, his country, and his faith with a
1.10dedication rarely seen; and
1.11WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge was led to the ministry and his long-storied career includes
1.12his devotion to opening many Hmong churches throughout the United States; and
1.13WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge founded the first Hmong church called The Hmong Alliance
1.14Church in the United States, located in Dallas, Texas, in 1976; and
1.15WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge cofounded the United Christians Liberty Evangelical Church
1.16in the city of Fresno and has opened eight more local churches throughout the United States and
1.17three more outside of the United States; and
1.18WHEREAS, through his outreach, Reverend Sia Ge has touched an immeasurable number
1.19of lives, has brought over thousands of Hmong immigrants to follow Christianity, and has appointed
1.2075 pastors throughout his years of service; and
1.21WHEREAS, through the years, Reverend Sia Ge has guided the church through decades of
1.22change, both in physical location and changing congregational needs. He is a constant missionary,
1.23spreading love and sharing the gospel anywhere and everywhere; and
2.1WHEREAS, Reverend Sia Ge has served as the ordained reverend for Hmong 18 Council,
2.2Inc. since 1997 and has been the senior reverend at Hmong Salvation Church since 2012; and
2.3NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
2.4honors Reverend Sia Ge Kong for his many years of dedicated service to his Lord, church, and
2.5community.
2.6BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.7enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.8Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Reverend Sia Ge Kong.
