AN ACT

To amend chapter 192, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the Missouri oral health program.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 192, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 192.990, to read as follows:

            192.990. 1. To increase public awareness of the importance of oral health to individuals’ overall health and well-being, the bureau of dental health within the department of health and senior services shall implement the “Missouri Oral Health Program”. The goals and duties of such program will include, but not be limited to:

            (1) Promoting the oral health of individuals throughout the state;

            (2) Facilitating oral health education and outreach programs in the state, including addressing the special oral health needs of children; and

            (3) Serving as a central location for information, resources, technical assistance and consultation about oral health for the department of health and senior services, other state agencies, local health departments and community-based organizations.

            2. The Missouri oral health program will be administered by the bureau of dental health within the department of health and senior services. The director of the department of health and senior services shall appoint a director of dental health to administer the Missouri oral health program. The director of dental health shall report directly to the director of the department of health and senior services.
