AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING GRANTS TO ELEVEN HOSPITALS THAT WERE INELIGIBLE FOR GRANTS FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOSPITAL SUSTAINABILITY GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING UPON THE PASSAGE OF THIS ACT AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2025.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the State Department of Health for the purpose of providing grants to eleven (11) hospitals that were ineligible for grants from the Mississippi Hospital Sustainability Grant Program established under Section 41-9-371, Mississippi Code of 1972, for the period beginning upon the passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2025................................................. $ 6,850,000.00

     SECTION 2.  The money appropriated by Section 1 shall be distributed to the following hospitals in the specified amounts:

(a)  Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Tupelo... $500,000.00

(b)  Freedom Hospital of Magnolia, LLC...... $300,000.00

(c)  Field Memorial Community Hospital dba Field Health System.................................................... $750,000.00

(d)  George County Hospital................ $875,000.00

(e)  TBD Acquisitions II, Inc., dba Gulfport Behavioral Health System.............................................. $500,000.00

(f)  Holmes County Hospital and Clinics..... $750,000.00

(g)  North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore-Amory....

.................................................... $625,000.00

(h)  North Sunflower Medical Center......... $750,000.00

(i)  Independent Healthcare Management, Inc., dba Lackey Memorial Hospital.................................... $750,000.00

(j)  Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital......... $750,000.00

(k)  Yalobusha General Hospital............. $300,000.00

TOTAL............................................ $ 6,850,000.00

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the Capital Expense Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024, and shall stand repealed on June 30, 2024.
