A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE WARNER MCBRIDE FOR HIS LEGISLATIVE LEGACY AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative Warner McBride, an honored and cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make 2011 his last legislative year when he retires; and

     WHEREAS, the Honorable Warner McBride began his legislative service in 1992 after being elected by the citizens of District 10, which is now composed of parts of Lafayette, Panola and Tallahatchie Counties, and was sworn into office on January 7, 1992, at the commencement of the 1992 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature; and

     WHEREAS, he has utilized the wisdom and experience he has accrued over the years to guide him in his duties as Chairman of  the House Transportation Committee and as a member of the Appropriations, Conservation and Water Resources, Judiciary B, Judiciary En Banc, Local and Private Legislation, Rules, and Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Committees; and

     WHEREAS, born December 4, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, and a native of Batesville, Mississippi, Representative Warner McBride, driven by the values instilled in him by his parents, graduated from Mississippi State University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering and business before beginning a successful business career in that field; and

     WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chairman of Transportation, he has developed a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable people in that area and is considered a champion for transportation as our state's greatest catalyst for economic growth and development; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the years, Representative McBride has utilized his leadership skills in the community as an active member with the Batesville Rotary Club, Panola Partnership and Wildlife Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Representative McBride is a strong man of faith and a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Good Hope Baptist Church, and he has been supported in every endeavor embarked upon by his family:  wife, Phyllis Necaise McBride; and sons, Jonathan, Ryan and Patrick; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor one of our own, who has represented his district, as well as this legislative body, with honor and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Representative Warner McBride for his legislative legacy and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Warner McBride and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
