A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE EXCEPTIONAL AND DEDICATED CAREER OF MRS. CARROLYN R. HAMILTON AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS LONG BEACH SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Carrolyn R. Hamilton, a lifelong resident of Long Beach, Mississippi, has announced her retirement as the Long Beach School District Superintendent, and this announcement punctuates 41 years of exceptional service and leadership for the Long Beach School District, bringing the shining light of education to an untold number of young people as a result of Mrs. Hamilton's tenure; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamilton's experience with the Long Beach School District began as a student, later returning to those institutions and serving as Principal at Long Beach High School and Long Beach Middle School, from which she had matriculated; and

     WHEREAS, over the course of Mrs. Hamilton's illustrious career, her service includes:  five years of teaching experience, 23 years serving the Long Beach School District as an administrator and 13 years serving as the school district's superintendent; and

     WHEREAS, her exceptional leadership, spanning those 41 years, proved boundless as she served and mentored students of all ages, from Harper McCaughan Elementary School to Long Beach Middle School and her alma mater, Long Beach High School; and

     WHEREAS, earning high acclaim and honor, Mrs. Hamilton earned the 2010 and 2012 Mississippi Association of Student Councils Administrator of the Year awards, the 2009 Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Administrator of the Year award, the 2002 National Association of Student Councils Administrator of the Year award and the 1996 and 2003 Long Beach School District Administrator of the Year awards; and

     WHEREAS, committed to physical well-being of students in addition to intellectual advancement, Mrs. Hamilton also served as Secretary of the Mississippi Youth Soccer Association, State Administrator of the Mississippi Olympic Development Soccer Program and the President of the South Mississippi Soccer Club; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to the students of the Long Beach School District, Mrs. Hamilton also shares her leadership and skills with Memorial Hospital, in Gulfport, Mississippi, serving as President of the hospital's Board of Trustees; and

     WHEREAS, her leadership and experience is also shared with the Mississippi Association of Administrators, where she serves as Secretary, and she is a Board Member of the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium and an Advisory Board Member of the Mississippi Association of Student Councils; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the significant professional achievements and outstanding employment career of such devoted advocates as Mrs. Hamilton, whose commitment to the Long Beach School District has been of great benefit to the State of Mississippi and the thousands of students who relied on her leadership and expertise as a bridge to their ultimate success:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the dedicated service and exceptional career of Mrs. Carrolyn R. Hamilton, congratulate her upon the occasion of her retirement after 41 years of dedicated service, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors as she enjoys the lighter days of her retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Carrolyn R. Hamilton and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
