A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL CHARGERS BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the dynamic Oxford High School Chargers Boys Soccer Team completed the 2012-2013 season by capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, after performing extremely well in the state playoffs, the Chargers defeated the eight-time State Champion Pearl Pirates during the championship game, due in large part to their stellar defense, winning with a score of 2-0; and

WHEREAS, to get to the title game, Oxford High School defeated Neshoba Central High School, Center Hill High School and last year's State Champion, Starkville High School; and

WHEREAS, the championship squad was comprised of the following players: Tias Hillard, Hayden Stewart, Noland Parham, Courtland Barnes, William Mayo, Dylan Rytheil, Ty Barber, Ansil Robinson, Miles Thamtuuk, Eddy Terry, Dion Kevin, Tristan Orman, Nathan Hallam, Malek Daghestani, Tony King, Gavin Douglas, Baxter Elliott, Connell Yoste, Cope Duchaine, Wes Snellgrove, Hunter Stewart, Sean Brown, Harland Stewart, Harlem Stewart, Luke Toler, James Moore, Gray Jenkins, Naziah Stamps, John O. Yoste, James Cutler, Neil Chandler, Lawson Barrett, Cole Calhoun, Johnathan Tyler, Henry Artigua, Kyle Rock, Jacob Conner, Preston Huggins, Keeton Calhoun, Brooks Kevin, Henry Webb, Jacob Parker and Zac Jenkins; and

WHEREAS, the team was superbly coached by Head Coach Jamie Perkins, who has a four-year record of 46-9, Assistant Coaches Mike Melton and Adam Trobaugh and Manager Mykail Clark; and

WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Chargers have developed a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches, bringing great honor to Oxford High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our great state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Oxford High School Chargers Boys Soccer Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Perkins, Principal Michael Martin, the Oxford School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
