A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING STEVE CUMMINGS UPON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE TO YALOBUSHA COUNTY AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST APPRECIATION TO HIM FOR HIS HARD WORK OVER THE YEARS.

     WHEREAS, on June 30, 2010, Mr. Steve Cummings retired with a little over 30 years with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service in Yalobusha County; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cummings faithfully served Yalobusha County in various capacities, and it is with great appreciation that we recognize his 30 years of dedication and devotion to his career; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cummings is a proud graduate of Mississippi State University, who bleeds maroon, and is an avid supporter of bulldog athletics, where he enjoys ringing his cowbell loudly; and

     WHEREAS, in 2004, Mr. Cummings was elected to the position of election commissioner, representing Beat One in Yalobusha County by providing effective and honest elections; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cummings is a proud member of the Mississippi State Horse Show Association and has worked with the 4-H livestock and horse program for over 30 years; and

     WHEREAS, during his diligent and faithful service to Yalobusha County, Mr. Cummings has served as a volunteer to the Yalobusha Soil and Water Conservation District for over 20 years; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his many years of service, Mr. Cummings educated the Yalobusha County youth about agriculture and advised the local farmers about the best agricultural methods; and

     WHEREAS, in faithfully serving the people of the county in various capacities, Mr. Cummings motivated and inspired his peers in a constructive manner, and he found something positive in every situation he faced no matter how challenging the situation may have seemed; and

     WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mr. Cummings left Yalobusha County and the Magnolia State in general, in a better position than he found it, by bringing attention to detail and then leading citizens in the formulation of innovative ways to get the tasks at hand done; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor diligent employees, such as Mr. Cummings, whose career serves as an example, and whose legacy of dedicated service is exemplified by outstanding leadership, commitment and prudent judgment:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the remarkable career of Mr. Steve Cummings, who retired with over 30 years with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service in Yalobusha County and express deepest appreciation to him for the hard work and many sacrifices he made in his 30 years of service, and extend best wishes for many years of good health and enjoyment in his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Steve Cummings and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
