A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE FRANK HAMILTON FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, after 20 years of dedicated service to the citizens of House District 109, which includes parts of George and Jackson Counties, the Honorable Frank Hamilton, a distinguished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make the 2011 legislative year his last when he retires from the Legislature at the end of the current term of office; and

     WHEREAS, born August 24, 1936, in Hurley, Mississippi, Representative Hamilton graduated from Moss Point High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Hamilton, a businessman and private pilot, currently serves the House of Representatives as Vice Chairman of the Military Affairs Committee and as a member of the following House committees:  Agriculture, Appropriations, Constitution, and Marine Resources; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his public service as a member of the House of Representatives, Representative Hamilton, a former supervisor for Jackson County, has volunteered his time, energy and leadership skills to the East Central Civic Association and the Mississippi Hunting Dog Association; and

     WHEREAS, a modest man who has been described as "one of the most unselfish men you will ever meet," Representative Hamilton was recently honored by the Port of Pascagoula for his tireless contributions in support of the local port facility; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Hamilton, a devout member of the Methodist church, is looking forward to spending more time in Hurley upon his retirement from the Legislature with his loving family, including his supportive wife, the former Peggy Joyce Horton, their four wonderful children, Kim, Monique, Renee and Wayne, and more than 15 adoring grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Hamilton's humble, easygoing and trustworthy personality has complemented his understanding of a myriad of issues he has addressed over the course of two decades in the Legislature, and his positive influence on all those who have had the pleasure of working with him will surely be missed in the coming years; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the legacy of one of our own, who has represented his district, as well as this legislative body, with honor and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Representative Frank Hamilton for his many years of dedicated and distinguished service to the citizens of House District 109 and the State of Mississippi and extend to him congratulations and heartiest wishes on the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Frank Hamilton and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
