A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS BOYS CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2010 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Boys Cross-Country Team finished the 2010 season the way it started, undefeated, when the Warriors completed a perfect cross-country season by winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A State Championship at Choctaw Trails on December 4, 2010; and

     WHEREAS, Corinth turned back St. Andrews by 21 points, while defending champion, Kossuth, finished third; and

     WHEREAS, the state title was the fifth for the Warriors and the sixth consecutive year a boys team from Alcorn County has won the event; and

     WHEREAS, Brian McDonnieal led the Warriors to the crown, winning the first Overall Individual Championship with a time of 16:59; and

     WHEREAS, Alcorn County runners took the top four places in the event; and

     WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Boys Cross-Country Team 2010 Class 3A State Champions roster is as follows:  Clayton Allred, All-State Team, 6th; Jackson Cornelius; Fletcher Hall; Drew Kerby, All-State Team, 3rd; Austin Martin; Brian McDonnieal, Division 3 State Champion, 1st; Austin Powell; Frank Rivers; Taylor Smith; Christian Stone; Nicholas Thompson, All-State Team, 14th; Jacob Wiggington; Mark Younger; Head Coach Larry L. Mangus and Assistant Coach Brian Thomas; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize such a special achievement by a group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Boys Cross-Country Team for winning the 2010 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A State Championship, their fifth Cross-Country State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches on this momentous occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Mangus, Corinth High School Principal Russ Elam and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
