A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MR. CALVIN GERARD "RODDY" JACKSON UPON RECEIVING THE 2013 BOONEVILLE OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Calvin Gerard "Roddy" Jackson is being honored for receiving the 2013 Booneville Outstanding Citizen Award, which was awarded by the Booneville Chapter of Junior Auxiliary; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson, a beloved retiree of FMC Technologies since 2007, is described as a dedicated, tireless, good neighbor and helpful, and is known throughout the community as one who will do whatever is asked or needed for his church and community at large; and

     WHEREAS, currently serving as a maintenance worker for First United Methodist Church in Booneville, Mississippi, Mr. Jackson was hired to serve the church in this much-needed capacity for only three days a week, but due to his dedication and love of his church, more often than not, he zealously serves seven days a week, which speaks to the selfless dedication that he reflects; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to assisting First United Methodist Church, Mr. Jackson helps the youth and the elderly in his community and assists with youth sports activities, many times without having to be asked for such assistance; and

     WHEREAS, also, a man of valor, Mr. Jackson is a United States Army Veteran, and he served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for a decade, which truly demonstrates his love for this state and country; and

     WHEREAS, throughout all of his endeavors, Mr. Jackson has been lovingly supported by his beautiful wife, Carolyn, and their three successful children and four wonderful grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives, to pay tribute to great Mississippians such as Mr. Jackson who has made it a priority to assist his church as well as his community, which in turn benefits the state as a whole:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby by congratulate Mr. Calvin Gerard "Roddy" Jackson upon receiving the 2013 Booneville Outstanding Citizen Award and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Jackson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
