A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING AND COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MRS. O'READER SINGLETON RICHARDSON AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON THE OCCASION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. O'Reader Singleton Richardson of Waveland will celebrate the wonderful milestone of her 100th birthday on April 4, 2013, officially joining the Centenarian Club; and

     WHEREAS, born on April 4, 1913, in Biloxi as the third child of six, Mrs. Richardson moved to Waveland in 1935, and she is the last sibling of her family who is still living; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson has been active in her community over the years, she regularly attends the Senior Citizens Center in Hancock County, and she is one of the last founding members of the Mount Chapel Baptist Church in Waveland; and

     WHEREAS, during her lifetime, Mrs. Richardson has seen America change from primarily an agricultural society to an advanced technological and industrial giant, and she has witnessed the actions of numerous United States Presidents and Mississippi Governors; and

     WHEREAS, known for being someone who has many stories to tell and one of the most joyful persons you would ever want to be around, Mrs. Richardson has been blessed with many forms of wealth - health, longevity, spirituality, civility and love from her family and friends, as she has withstood the tests of time; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson is the widow of Cordosia Richardson, who also lived an extraordinarily long life of 99-1/2 years, and her family includes a son and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize the life of such a wonderfully noble, experienced and gentle soul as Mrs. Richardson:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we acknowledge and commend the life of Mrs. O'Reader Singleton Richardson, congratulate her upon the occasion of her 100th birthday, and extend heartfelt wishes for many more years of good health, peace and happiness.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. O'Reader Singleton Richardson and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
