A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL TRIVIA TEAM FOR WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE 2013 ACADEMIC COMPETITION JV DIVISION.

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School's Trivia Team won the National Championship of the 2013 Academic Competition JV Division in Chicago, IL, in June; and

     WHEREAS, the team was comprised of students, Avery Jordan, David Nowicki and Mark Sandefur, and coached by teacher, Brett Mayfield; and

     WHEREAS, in the competition, they first won the Chicago leg of the tournament and then immediately bested an Indiana team, which had earlier won the New Orleans portion, to claim the ultimate national crown and bring back two big trophies for the display case at Madison Central; and

     WHEREAS, Sandefur graduated in May from Madison Central and will be at the University of Mississippi in the fall, studying chemical engineering and public policy leadership, and Nowicki and Jordan just completed the 10th grade and will return to the academic team for their second year; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison Central High School Trivia Team for winning the National Championship of the 2013 Academic Competition JV Division, and express best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Madison Central High School, Avery Jordan, David Nowicki, Mark Sandefur and Brett Mayfield, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
