A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING THE CULINARY COMPETITION TEAM FROM WAYNE COUNTY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER UPON WINNING THE 2015 MISSISSIPPI PROSTART STATE CULINARY CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the incomparable culinary competition team from Wayne County Career and Technical Education Center won the prestigious 2015 Mississippi ProStart State Culinary Championship held on February 23, 2015, beating out sixteen other programs and one hundred participants; and

     WHEREAS, ProStart is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow's industry leaders; and

     WHEREAS, ProStart brings industry and the classroom together,  giving students a platform to discover new interests and talents and opening doors for fulfilling careers; and

     WHEREAS, the competition team's scrumptious and winning menu consisted of sautéed gulf shrimp, pan seared chicken and lemon steam cake, which left such a lovely taste on the judges palate that there was no question whose cuisine reigned supreme; and

     WHEREAS, after winning the 2015 Mississippi ProStart State Culinary Championship, the competition team will now compete at the 14th Annual National ProStart Invitational held on April 18-20, 2015, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California, which is a competition that brings together the top 350 student competitors to put their skills to the test in front of industry leaders and family and friends with the hope of earning a coveted scholarship from one of the nation's premier culinary programs; and

     WHEREAS, the competition team members are Kaveyanna Hall, Constance Mashburn, Shelby Mashburn, Corey Polite, Jr., and Breanna Risen, their instructor is Sara Waller, and the director of Wayne County Career and Technical Education Center is Bobby Jones; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the talented youth of this state who bring honor to their family, school and this state through their outstanding achievements:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the competition team from Wayne County Career and Technical Education Center upon winning the 2015 Mississippi ProStart State Culinary Championship and extend sincere wishes for continued success at the National ProStart Invitational and in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Wayne County Career and Technical Education Center Director Bobby Jones and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
