A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING CASTRO COLEMAN, ALSO KNOWN AS MR. SIPP "THE MISSISSIPPI BLUES CHILD," FROM MCCOMB, MISSISSIPPI, AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE VICKSBURG BLUES SOCIETY, ON ACHIEVING FIRST PLACE IN THE BAND DIVISION AND BEING NAMED GIBSON GUITARIST AT THE 30TH INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE.

     WHEREAS, Castro Coleman, also known as Mr. Sipp "The Mississippi Blues Child," from McComb, Mississippi, and a representative of the Vicksburg Blues Society, recently achieved First Place in the Band Division and was named Gibson Guitarist (top guitarist of the Band Division finalists) at the 30th International Blues Challenge; and

     WHEREAS, the 30th International Blues Challenge, the world's largest gathering of blues acts, concluded its five-day run on world famous Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, with a full day of performances before a full house at the Orpheum Theatre, and the eight solo/duo and nine band finalists vied for prizes after surviving the narrowing down from 255 acts from 40 states and 16 countries; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Sipp represented the Vicksburg Blues Society, an affiliate of The Blues Foundation, at the competition, and took top honors amongst all participants in the Band Division; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Sipp is the latest in a long line of talented Mississippi musicians, who are treasures to this state, "The Birthplace of America's Music," and delight all who have the opportunity to experience their amazing musical talents; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay special recognition to exceptional Mississippians such as Mr. Sipp, whose incredible musical talents bring pride to his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Castro Coleman, also known as Mr. Sipp "The Mississippi Blues Child," from McComb, Mississippi, and a representative of the Vicksburg Blues Society, who achieved First Place in the Band Division and was named Gibson Guitarist (top guitarist of the Band Division finalists) at the 30th International Blues Challenge, and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Sipp and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
