AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 912, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1999, AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 929, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 2009, TO EXTEND THE REPEAL DATE ON THE PROVISION AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF STONE COUNTY TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT ON MISDEMEANOR CONVICTIONS TO FUND THE "W.D. 'DUB' RUSTIN MEMORIAL BUILDING"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 912, Local and Private Laws of 1999, as amended by Chapter 929, Local and Private Laws of 2009, is amended as follows:

     Section 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Stone County, Mississippi, in its discretion, is authorized, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, not to exceed Four Dollars ($4.00) per case, for each misdemeanor conviction obtained in any Justice Court of Stone County.

     (2)  The avails of the additional assessment imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be expended by the Board of Supervisors of Stone County to fund the construction, operation, maintenance and related needs of a new county office building, to be known as the "W.D. 'Dub' Rustin Memorial Building."

     (3)  The provisions of this section shall be repealed from and after July 1, 2016.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
