A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ALANIS TAKIRA JOHNSON OF GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL IN MADISON, MISSISSIPPI, AS "NATIONAL AMERICAN MISS MISSISSIPPI JUNIOR TEEN."

     WHEREAS, "National American Miss Mississippi Junior Teen" for 2015 is Alanis Johnson of Madison, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Alanis Takira Johnson was born on May 23, 2000, in Madison, Mississippi, to the Reverend Cornelius E. Johnson and Latonia Johnson.  Ms. Johnson currently attends Germantown High School located in Madison, Mississippi.  She holds a 4.0 grade point average (GPA), being all accelerated placement classes.  Since elementary, Ms. Johnson was placed in PAthways, Madison County Gift Program.  Her favorite subjects are Math and Science, where she hopes to pursue a career in one of these areas of study.  Ms. Johnson has maintained a 4.0 (GPA); and

     WHEREAS, she has competed in numerous competitions, where she was the recipient of the prestigious Science Bowl Award.  She also received the Citizenship Award from the Germantown High School, where a board of counselors and teachers recommend students who have demonstrated an outstanding level of assistance, care and productivity to others; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson is well-respected by her peers and others.  She was voted Freshman Homecoming Maid and Freshman Class Favorite.  Alanis has also been recognized for Outstanding Performance and Exceptional Commitment to the Germantown High School Cheer Squad; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson hopes to attend Harvard University to pursue a career as a neurosurgery.  She is a Cheerleader and a big sister to Addison Taylor Johnson; and it is with great pride that we recognize the academic excellence and community spirit of this young Mississippi citizen:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Alanis Takira Johnson of Germantown High School in Madison, Mississippi, as "National American Miss Mississippi Junior Teen," and extend our best wishes to Alanis and her family on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Alanis Johnson, forwarded to the Principal of Germantown High school and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
