A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY JAGUARS" SOCCER TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING 2013-2014 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MHSAA 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School, led by Head Soccer Coach Cecil Hinds, will add yet another State Championship to its trophy case for soccer.  The Lady Jaguars won the school's 6th State Title in Girls Soccer on February 7, 2014, defeating Brandon 2-0 at Arrow Field to claim the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Championship.  Freshman Kate Russell Snopeck scored on a corner kick from Sophomore Madison Deslatte in the 17th minute of the game.  Sixteen minutes later, Sophomore Tay Cavett scored by heading the ball into the goal from another kick from Sophomore Madison Deslatte; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars finished the 2013-2014 season with 12 straight wins and an overall record of 22 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties ranking No. 1 in the state and No. 8 nationally in MaxPreps' rankings.  The Lady Jaguars defeated Warren Central in the first round of playoffs 9-0.  The Lady Jaguars continued their winning streak with a 3-1 win over Tupelo to clinch the North State Championship Title which led to the Championship Game against Brandon.  The offense scored 99 goals, led by Senior McKenzie Adams, who tallied 15 goals and 13 assists.  Senior Adaugo Anyamele chipped in with 13 and 11, while Sophomore Tay Cavett and Junior Megan Endt scored 12 and 11 times, respectively.  Senior goalie Rachel Ashworth made 68 saves and allowed five goals while recording 21 shutouts; and

     WHEREAS, the 2013-2014 "Lady Jaguars" Championship Roster includes, Seniors:  McKenzie Adams, Adaugo Anyamele, Rachel Ashworth, Sarah Daniels, Jayden Gardner, Carrie Hancock and Bryce Wheatley; Juniors:  Kristen Eddy, Megan Endt, Meagan Ogburn, Mary Elizabeth Pace, Brecken Reeves, Jenna Walzer, Jessica Walzer, Meg Watson and Courtney Wooten; Sophomores:  Elliott Allen, Anna Blocker, Allie Grace Borst, Tay Cavett, Madison Deslatte, Scarlett Hodges, Emily LeDoux, Alex Parker, and Caroline Runion; and Freshmen:  Darby Bridges, Sarah Chastain, Kim Hardy, Caitlyn Klauser, Mary Eliza McCarley, Maggie Overby, Shelby Poole, Kate Russell Snopeck, Camille Summerlin and Mary Clark Warren; Head Coach Cecil Hinds; Assistant Coach Aubrey Weems; volunteer Coach Ashley Davis; team Managers include Taylor Lindsey and Alyana White; and Athletic Director Coach Bobby Hall; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this accomplishment by a team of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That  we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2013-2014 Madison Central "Lady Jaguars" Soccer Team and Head Coach Cecil Hinds for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Championship, and extend to the players, coaches and parents our best wishes on this occasion and for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Cecil Hinds and Principal Austin Brown for the team, forwarded to the Madison County School Board, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
