A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE REGENTS SCHOOL OF OXFORD "LYONS" BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM AND COACH BRANDON BECKETT FOR WINNING THE DIVISION 3A MAIS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, WHICH IS THE TEAM'S FIFTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Regents School of Oxford "Lyons" Boys Cross Country Team coached by Brandon Beckett won the Division 3A MAIS State Championship on October 23, 2023, at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, this is the 5th straight State Championship for the team; and

     WHEREAS, the MAIS 2023 AAA Regents School of Oxford "Lyons" Boys Cross Country State Championship Roster:  Brody Alford, George Bailey, Charles Bryan, Samuel Bryan, Tristan Bryan, Will Coker, James Edwards, James Graeber, Ben Fuller, Zach Paul, Cade Reed, David Smith, Jack Spears and Jude Wood; and Coach Brandon Beckett; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought pride to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Regents School of Oxford "Lyons" Boys Cross Country Team and Coach Brandon Beckett for winning the Division 3A MAIS State Championship, which is the team's fifth State Championship, and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Brandon Beckett for the team, forwarded to Regents School of Oxford Principal and Board of Directors, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
