A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING KAYLEE BROOKE MCCOLLUM OF AMORY, MISSISSIPPI, FOR REPRESENTING THE USA AT THE 2024 MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT IN MEXICO.

     WHEREAS, Kaylee Brooke McCollum is a 23-year-old native of Amory, Mississippi, who is no stranger to the Miss Universe Organization.  Kaylee Brooke represented Mississippi and placed as the 3rd Runner-Up to Miss Teen USA in 2018; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from The Mississippi University for Women and earning her B.S. in Nursing, she worked for two years as a Critical Care Nurse before landing her current position as a Nurse at Accent Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  With aspirations to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, she is honored to have been accepted into The University of North Alabama's esteemed master's program to continue her educational journey; and

     WHEREAS, in 2018, Kaylee Brooke faced the devastating loss of a dear friend, which ignited her passion to make a difference for those struggling through mental health challenges and led to her founding of #YOUmatter, a social media community on Facebook and Instagram; and

     WHEREAS, as Kaylee Brooke progressed in her nursing education, she recognized the critical importance of addressing mental health concerns among college students, a demographic particularly vulnerable to the pressures and stresses of academic life.  Building upon the foundation of #YOUmatter, she conceived Ignite the Voice 360, a platform dedicated to amplifying the conversations surrounding college student mental health.  Through Ignite the Voice 360, Kaylee Brooke fearlessly shares her own experiences, insights, and expertise, striving to break down the stigma and barriers to mental health care access; and

     WHEREAS, outside of pageants, Kaylee Brooke enjoys spending her free time with her two nieces, Callie, five, and Laynie, one.  She may also be found with a makeup brush or hair tool in her hand styling as an artist through her very own business, KBKreations; and

     WHEREAS, Kaylee Brooke is deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to represent and serve Mississippi once again.  She is looking forward to competing for the coveted title of Miss USA and possibly the chance to represent the USA at Miss Universe in Mexico later this year; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we commend this young Mississippian who has brought honor to her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Kaylee Brooke McCollum of Amory, Mississippi, for representing the USA at the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico, and we extend to Kaylee our best wishes for success in the Miss Universe Pageant and in her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Kaylee Brooke McCollum and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
