A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to direct the administrative office of the courts to study methods for adjusting the salary of clerks of superior court due to increased workloads resulting from tourism.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Administrative Office of the Courts shall study methods for adjusting the salary schedule contained in G.S. 7A‑101 for clerks of superior court who serve counties where the annual workload is greater than would be expected for the population of the county due to seasonal tourism. The Administrative Office of the Courts shall report its findings and recommendations to the Chairs of the House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Justice and Public Safety and the Senate Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety, and to the Chairs of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety by May 1, 2016.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
