A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO EXPAND THE EXTENDED LEARNING AND INTEGRATED STUDENT SUPPORTS COMPETITIVE GRANT PROGRAM.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Section 7.24(a) of S.L. 2017‑57 reads as rewritten:

"SECTION 7.24.(a)  Of the funds appropriated by this act for the At‑Risk Student Services Alternative School Allotment for the 2017‑2019 fiscal biennium, the Department of Public Instruction shall use up to six million dollars ($6,000,000) for the 2017‑2018 fiscal year and up to six million dollars ($6,000,000) for the 2018‑2019 fiscal year for the Extended Learning and Integrated Student Supports Competitive Grant Program (Program). Of these funds,funds allocated for the Program, the Department of Public Instruction may use up to two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) for each fiscal year to administer the Program."

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for the 2018‑2019 fiscal year the sum of six million dollars ($6,000,000) in nonrecurring funds to expand the Extended Learning and Integrated Student Supports Competitive Grant Program enacted in Section 7.24 of S.L. 2017‑57.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2018, and applies to applications for grants submitted on or after that date.
