Short Title:        Yadkin Valley Career Academy Funding.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to provide funding for the yadkin valley regional career academy.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The local boards of education of Davidson County Schools, Thomasville City Schools, and Lexington City Schools and the local board of trustees of Davidson County Community College may apply jointly to establish a cooperative innovative high school program known as the Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy under Part 9 of Article 16 of Chapter 115C of the General Statutes. The State Board of Education and State Board of Community Colleges shall consider such application for the 2013‑2014 school year if the application is received by June 15, 2013.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of three hundred seven thousand six hundred fifty dollars ($307,650) for the 2013‑2014 fiscal year and the sum of three hundred seven thousand six hundred fifty dollars ($307,650) for the 2014‑2015 fiscal year to be allocated to Davidson County Schools for the Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy.

SECTION 3.  Section 2 of this act becomes effective July 1, 2013. The remainder of this act is effective when it becomes law.
