       AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to fluoride additives
         in water
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 1100-a of the  public  health  law  is  amended  by
    2  adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows:
    3    3.  FOR  ANY  PUBLIC  WATER  SUPPLY  TO  WHICH ANY COUNTY, CITY, TOWN,
    4  VILLAGE, OR PUBLIC AUTHORITY  ADDS  A  FLUORIDE  COMPOUND,  THE  OPTIMAL
    5  FLUORIDE TARGET LEVEL SHALL BE 0.7 MILLIGRAMS PER LITER AND THE FLUORIDE
    6  LEVEL  SHALL  NOT  EXCEED 0.8 MILLIGRAMS PER LITER. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL
    7  MAKE RULES AND REGULATIONS TO ENFORCE THIS SUBDIVISION.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
    9  have  become  a  law. Effective immediately, any rules, regulations, and
   10  actions necessary to implement the provisions of this act on its  effec-
   11  tive date are authorized to be made prior to such date.
