        AN  ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in
          relation to waiving fees at public campsites, parks and  other  public
          places of recreation for certain first responders

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 13.19 of the parks, recreation and historic preser-
     2  vation law, as amended by chapter 649 of the laws of 1977, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    § 13.19 Free use of campsites.  Notwithstanding the provisions of  any
     5  other law, any person who is blind, non-ambulatory, or an amputee or any
     6  veteran  of  the  wars  of  the  United States, who has at any time been
     7  awarded by the federal government an allowance towards the  purchase  of
     8  an  automobile  or  is eligible for such an award or any certified first
     9  responder who is disabled as a result of a certified World Trade  Center
    10  medical  condition,  shall  be  permitted to use any of the public camp-
    11  sites, parks and other public places of recreation in this  state,  upon
    12  the  same terms and conditions as apply to the general public, but with-
    13  out the payment of any fees or other charges for the use of  such  camp-
    14  sites, parks and other public places of recreation.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
