       Introduced  by M. of A. BRENNAN -- read once and referred to the Commit-
         tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
       AN ACT to amend the not-for-profit corporation law, in relation  to  the
         definition of cremation
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Paragraph (h) of section 1502 of the not-for-profit  corpo-
    2  ration  law,  as added by chapter 579 of the laws of 2006, is amended to
    3  read as follows:
    4    (h) The term "cremation" means the technical process, using  heat  and
    5  flame  OR  ANY  CHEMICAL  PROCESSES, that reduces human remains to ashes
    6  [and] AND/OR other residue.  "Cremation" shall ALSO include the process-
    7  ing, and may include the pulverization, of such ashes and other residue.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
