       AN ACT in relation to authorizing the assessor of the town of  Islip  to
         accept  an  application  for  exemption  from  real  property tax from
         Adelante of Suffolk County, Inc. for a certain parcel of land
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
    2  the  assessor  of  the town of Islip is hereby authorized to accept from
    3  Adelante of Suffolk County, Inc., an application or renewal of  applica-
    4  tion for exemption from real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of
    5  the  real  property  tax  law  for the 2007-2008 assessment roll for the
    6  parcel owned by such not-for-profit corporation which is located at  450
    7  Elmore  Street,  hamlet of Central Islip in the town of Islip, county of
    8  Suffolk, otherwise known as Suffolk county tax map school district  500,
    9  section  121,  block  2,  lot 83. If accepted the application or renewal
   10  application shall be reviewed as if it had been received  on  or  before
   11  the taxable status date established for such roll.
   12    If  satisfied that such not-for-profit organization would otherwise be
   13  entitled to such exemption if such not-for-profit organization had filed
   14  an application or renewal application for exemption by  the  appropriate
   15  taxable status date, the assessor of the town of Islip, upon approval by
   16  the  Islip  town  board,  may make appropriate correction to the subject
   17  roll. If such exemption is granted  and  such  organization,  therefore,
   18  shall have paid any tax with respect to the subject roll, the applicable
   19  governing  body  or  tax department may, in its sole discretion, provide
   20  for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel those taxes, fines, penal-
   21  ties, liens, or interest remaining unpaid.
   22    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
