       AN ACT authorizing New York 811, Inc. to receive retroactive real  prop-
         erty tax exempt status
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
    2  the assessor of the town of Islip is hereby authorized  to  accept  from
    3  New York 811, Inc. an application for exemption from real property taxes
    4  pursuant to section 420-a of the real property tax law for the 2011-2012
    5  assessment roll, for the parcel conveyed to such organization, with such
    6  parcel  being  located  in the town of Islip at 60 Knickerbocker Avenue,
    7  Bohemia,  otherwise   known   as   Suffolk   County   Tax   Map   Number
    8  0500-215-1-29.024.  If accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if
    9  it had been received on or before the taxable  status  date  established
   10  for such roll.
   11    If  satisfied  that  such  organization would otherwise be entitled to
   12  such exemption  if  such  organization  had  filed  an  application  for
   13  exemption  by  the  appropriate taxable status date, the assessor of the
   14  town of Islip, upon approval by the governing body or  the  tax  depart-
   15  ment, may grant exemption from all taxation beginning on the date of the
   16  conveyance  of such parcel to such organization on the effective date of
   17  this act and cancel taxes, fines, penalties, and interest paid  by  such
   18  organization, and make appropriate correction of the subject roll.
   19    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
