Senate Resolution No. 830

        COMMEMORATING  the  50th  Anniversary of Pronto of
        Long Island, Inc. on June 5, 2019

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  commemorate  the
50th  Anniversary of Pronto of Long Island, Inc. to be celebrated with a
Golden Gala on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Watermill  Long  Island,  New
York; and

  WHEREAS,  For  the last five decades Pronto of Long Island, Inc. has
strived to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, welcome the  stranger  and
provide healing and hope to everyone who walks through our doors; and

  WHEREAS,  In  1969, Pronto of Long Island, Inc. began serving people
in need with basic human services from  the  basement  of  Saint  Anne's
Church  in Brentwood, New York; through the years the organization moved
several times; in 2005, they built their new 10,000 square foot facility
on Pine Aire Drive in Bay Shore; and

  WHEREAS, Always with a vision of helping people while treating  them
with   dignity  and  respect,  Pronto  of  Long  Island,  Inc.  provides
comprehensive, personalized care through a variety of programs including
a food pantry that provides food to families in the community  that  are
struggling;  a  thrift center offering those in need a place to shop for
gently  used  clothing,  shoes  and  bedding;  a  warehouse  that  makes
available  household  items  as  well as a program called Shots for Tots
providing  immunizations  for  children  up  to  18  that  do  not  have
insurance; and

  WHEREAS,  Pronto  of Long Island, Inc. offers food stamp assistance,
Medicare  insurance  and  United   Healthcare   -   insurance   provider
information, senior services programs and the Empire Justice program; it
also  provides  English  as  a  Second Language classes and helps people
prepare for their United States Citizenship exams; and

  WHEREAS, The success of Pronto of Long Island,  Inc.  is  in  direct
correlation  to  the  efforts  of  its  staff, whose involvement is, and
always  has  been,  characterized  by  and  impressive  commitment,   an
unbridled  enthusiasm,  and  an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it  serves;
and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body that those
organizations  which  enhance  the  well-being  and  vitality  of  their
community  and  have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all  the  citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Pronto of Long Island, Inc. on  June
5, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pronto of Long Island, Inc.
