Senate Resolution No. 1270 BY: Senator WALCZYK COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of The Palace Diner located in Gloversville, New York WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize institutions which preserve history and prove to be committed to the community; and WHEREAS, The Palace Diner was built by Jerry O'Mahony Dining Car Company and first opened in 1923 as a stationary dining car located at 62 South Main St. Gloversville, New York, owned by Albert C. Main; and WHEREAS, The Palace Diner is one of the last dining cars still in operation; and WHEREAS, Throughout the years, The Palace Diner has seen many changes, from remodeling, additions, and changes of ownership; the Gloversville community recognized the importance of preserving the history of The Palace Diner, and many of the original features are still visible; and WHEREAS, The Palace Diner has given back to the community, served as an iconic meeting place and will continue to provide the Gloversville area with home-style cooking for generations; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who enhance the well-being community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The Palace Diner in Gloversville, New York; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to The Palace Diner, New York.
