        COMMEMORATING   the   60th   Anniversary   of  the
        Whitestown Seniors

  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
illustrious organizations of the State  of  New  York  whose  purposeful
endeavors  serve to enhance the quality of life for the cherished senior
citizens in their communities; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commemorate the 60th  Anniversary  of  the  Whitestown  Seniors,  to  be
celebrated  with a luncheon on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Hart's Hill Inn,
Whitesboro, New York; and

  WHEREAS, The Whitestown Seniors was established on May 5,  1959,  in
the Town of Whitestown; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Whitestown Seniors began with only 15 members and due
to its excellent care, providing quality programs geared  to  the  needs
and  interests  of  senior citizens, the group has grown and today there
are over 200 members; and

  WHEREAS, Since its inception, under the leadership of  Helen  Kelly,
Shirley  Platt,  Jim  Raczynski,  and  Rose  Kurczyk, the members of the
Whitestown Seniors have held weekly meetings to provide access to health
screening clinics,  and  defensive  driving  courses  and  also  planned
picnics and parties, bingo and card games, and a variety of trips; and

  WHEREAS,  The members of Whitestown Seniors were instrumental in the
development of the Whitestown Senior Citizen Center and have hosted  the
noon senior's nutrition program at this center for numerous years; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to  our
attention,  they  should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commemorate  the  60th  Anniversary of the Whitestown Seniors; and be it
further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the Whitestown Seniors.
