Senate Resolution No. 1739 BY: Senator MARTINS HONORING Leyalanny Mata upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Founder's Award by HEARTS Port Washington on February 9, 2024 WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Leyalanny Mata upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Founder's Award by HEARTS Port Washington, to be recognized at its Annual Red Party on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Polish American Hall in Port Washington, New York; and WHEREAS, Leyalanny Mata's passion for the performing arts was inspired by her daughter, Aurora, who became interested in the arts at a very early age, immersing her in the world of musical theater; and WHEREAS, A dedicated mother, Leyalanny Mata never misses a show or event, and is always looking for new ways to add value to the theater experiences in the Port Washington community; she found herself focusing on how to best serve the community-at-large and volunteered with local groups and events including HEARTS PW and PortFest, Harborfest, Curtains Up and serving as a board member for the annual Port Summer Show; and WHEREAS, Truly devoted to her community, Leyalanny Mata spends her time selling raffle tickets to benefit theater groups, bringing dinner to show rehearsals or soliciting raffle prizes, and volunteering to read with 1st and 2nd grade children; and WHEREAS, Having moved to Port Washington six years ago, Leyalanny Mata is a graduate of Vassar College and NYU School of Public Health; she is an executive sales professional with deep experience in the areas of logistics and insurance; and WHEREAS, A lifelong entrepreneur, Leyalanny Mata has launched several successful business ventures throughout her career, many with a philanthropic purpose; most recently, she is executing a joint venture with her daughter Aurora to bring snacks and smoothies to healthcare professionals at St. Francis Hospital; and WHEREAS, During her free time, Leyalanny Mata indulges in her love of Dancing with the Stars and gives lots of love and attention to the most recent addition to their family, Chops, her charming and cuddly baby pig; and WHEREAS, HEARTS (Helping Enrich the Arts of Port Washington) is an independent, grassroots not-for-profit 501(c)3 community organization whose mission is to add meaningful value to children's lives and their community by supporting, promoting and enriching the arts in Port Washington and its public schools; and WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a period of constructive involvement, Leyalanny Mata has stood constant in dignity, good grace, and humor; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Leyalanny Mata has displayed throughout her life; and WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to Leyalanny Mata, that future generations may know and appreciate her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Leyalanny Mata upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Founder's Award by HEARTS Port Washington on February 9, 2024; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Leyalanny Mata.
