        HONORING  Karen  Lipton  upon  the occasion of her
        designation for  special  recognition  by  RVC  Blue
        Speaks on April 13, 2024

  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to  recognize  and  pay  tribute  to  those
illustrious  organizations  and individuals who devote themselves to the
welfare of the community and its citizenry; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Karen Lipton
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by RVC Blue
Speaks on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the 6th Annual Light it  Up  Blue
Gala for Autism, held at The Coral House in Baldwin, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  The mission of RVC Blue Speaks is to promote awareness and
acceptance of those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder so  that  their
quality  of  life  is  enhanced and their potential is fulfilled; a 2024
Gala Honoree, Karen Lipton works to change the conversation about Autism
into action and progress; and

  WHEREAS, The auspicious occasion of the Gala presents this  esteemed
opportunity for Karen Lipton and her husband Wayne Howard Lipton to also
honor their late son, Adam who passed away in April of 2020; as a child,
he was diagnosed with autistic tendencies and benefited greatly from the
early  intervention programs then available through the Rockville Centre
Schools and Camp Anchor, however, tragically, he was  seriously  injured
in an accident at the age of 10 and survived until the age of 37; and

  WHEREAS, Raised in Queens, New York, Karen Lipton earned a B.A. from
Hofstra University in 1976 and her J.D. from Hofstra Law School in 1979;
and

  WHEREAS,  Building  her  career, Karen Lipton served as an Assistant
District Attorney under the Honorable Denis Dillon  for  several  years,
before  embarking  on her journey to raise her three beautiful children;
and

  WHEREAS, During her years of active  motherhood,  Karen  Lipton  was
active  in  the Parent-Teacher Association Council and Special Education
Parent-Teacher  Association  for  Rockville   Centre   Schools;   having
co-chaired  the  Foundation's fundraising efforts for a decade, she also
served as a Board Member and President of the Rockville Centre Education
Foundation, which is  dedicated  to  enhancing  the  quality  of  public
education  by  securing  and  providing  financial  resources for school
enrichment; and

  WHEREAS, Returning to the Office of the District Attorney  in  2001,
Karen  Lipton  served  under the Honorable Kathleen Rice and as a Senior
Assistant District Attorney  for  the  Honorable  Madeline  Singas;  she
officially retired from the office in November of 2020; and

  WHEREAS, Karen Lipton has always supported her community and temple,
education,  the  arts, and healthcare; locally, she devotes her time and

efforts to Mount Sinai South Nassau  Hospital,  Molloy  University,  The
South Shore Symphony, and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts; and

  WHEREAS,  Residing  in  Rockville  Centre  for  over 44 years, Karen
Lipton, and her husband, Wayne  Howard  Lipton,  have  been  honored  by
various  organizations,  including  the RVC Education Foundation, Molloy
University, and Mt. Sinai South Nassau Hospital; and

  WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Wayne, their two
children, Sarah and Alex, and their oldest son, Adam, who  sadly  passed
in  2020,  all  of  whom  feel  privileged  to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and

  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
organizations  of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the  citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Karen Lipton upon the occasion  of  her  designation  for  special
recognition  by  RVC  Blue  Speaks  on  April  13, 2024, and to wish her
continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Karen Lipton.
