        MOURNING  the  death  of  Norman  James  Williams,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS,  Norman  James  Williams  of  Brooklyn,  New  York, died on
Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the age of 70; and

  WHEREAS, Norman James Williams, who was born on March 30,  1950,  in
Charlestown,  Guyana, South America, was the seventh child of Norman and
Clarabel Williams; and

  WHEREAS, He attended Broad Street Government  School,  then  Trinity
Methodist School until the 6th Standard before enrolling at Chatham High
School; and

  WHEREAS,   Norman   James  Williams  distinguished  himself  in  his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

  WHEREAS, Norman James Williams was employed for a several  years  at
G.M.C.where  he  met  the  love  of  his life, Megnal Gentle; the couple
married on August 17, 1985, and together they had one  son,  Dexter;  he
was also the father of Andre and Jermaine; and

  WHEREAS,  Predeceased  by his parents, Norman and Clarabel Williams,
Norman James Williams is survived by  his  wife,  Megnal;  sons,  Andre,
Jermaine  and  Dexter;  seven  grandchildren,  Georgia, Brandon, Dretan,
Naomie, Jayden, Kimmora and Jeremiah; sisters, Yvonne, Eileen,  Lynette,
Olivia  and Jennifer; brothers, Lloyd, Warren, Raymond, Clement, Michael
and Keith;  sisters-in-law,  Lena,  Ingrid,  Sylvena,  Margaret,  Patsy,
Jennifer  and  Mercell;  brothers-in-law, Lennox Gentle, Lennox Daly and
Robert Bacchus; Uncle Marlon, Earl, Gail, Esan, Suzanne, Jennel Dillion,
Errol, Roxanne, Lorraine, Marcia,  Suzette,  Dwayne  and  Yonette;  best
friend  of  the  Patterson,  Leslyn  and Deryck Sam, Michael and Claudia
Welch, Gordon Brown of Canada; and cousins, the Gentles of Low Wood, the
Daysons and the Williams, Corine and Collette Dunson and Oswald  Amanda;
and

  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Norman James Williams leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn  the  death  of  Norman James Williams, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Norman James Williams.
