Senate Resolution No. 3346 BY: Senator BRESLIN HONORING Jeff Weiss upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2020 Third Age Achievement Award for Volunteerism by LifePath WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jeff Weiss upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Third Age Achievement Award for Volunteerism by LifePath which was celebrated at its 24th Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, September 25, 2020; and WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the contributions area residents and professionals have made in their communities during the Third Age, after turning 60 years-old, of their lives; Jeff Weiss is truly deserving of this prestigious award; and WHEREAS, LifePath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to help them stay connected to their communities; and WHEREAS, Jeff Weiss is a pillar in his community; currently, he is the owner and CEO of Glennpeter Jewelers, which he took over from his father who had opened the store in 1950; and WHEREAS, In addition to his successful career as a businessman, Jeff Weiss is a well-known volunteer in the Capital District; he has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for more than 30 years; serves on numerous boards of directors including the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Maria College, and the Committee for the Holocaust Memorial; and is an advisor to Eyes Wide Open, an organization to end human trafficking; and WHEREAS, Service to community and country is the foundation of our society, and the contributions and future efforts of those in service to them are a vital part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of our communities; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Jeff Weiss upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2020 Third Age Achievement Award for Volunteerism by LifePath; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Jeff Weiss.
