        CONGRATULATING  Zach  Elliott upon the occasion of
        capturing the 2019 NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track and  Field
        Division II Championship in the boys shot put throw

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York  who,  by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Zach  Elliott  upon  the  occasion  of capturing his first
NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Division II Championship  in  the  boys
shot  put  throw on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Middletown High School in
Middletown, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Odessa-Montour Central School senior track and  field  star
Zach  Elliott  won the title with an amazing throw of 55'6", beating the
second place finisher by five  inches;  with  this  monumental  win,  he
became his school's first track and field New York State Champion; and

  WHEREAS,  Zach Elliott has been a member of the track and field team
for five years; during his dominant 2019 season,  he  broke  the  school
record  he previously broke the year before, and broke the league record
as well; and

  WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of  maroon  and  white,
his  parents Dave and Kelly Elliott, friends, and the community at large
loyally and  enthusiastically  supported  Zach  Elliott  throughout  his
journey as he ended his season with an impressive overall record; and

  WHEREAS,  In a sport such as shot put throw, which demands strength,
concentration and agility, Coaches Skip Strobel and Jake Edelman  worked
hard  to  hone  the  skills  of this champion, teaching this outstanding
athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both in and out of the throw
pit; and

  WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of  teamwork,  pride
and  accomplishment, and Zach Elliott has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which  is  a  tradition  of  his  school;  now,
therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Zach Elliott  upon  the  occasion  of  capturing  the  2019
NYSPHSAA  Outdoor  Track  and Field Division II Championship in the boys
shot put throw; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Zach Elliott, and Coaches Skip Strobel and Jake Edelman.
