Assembly Resolution No. 787 BY: M. of A. Cook HONORING Honorable Sadri Altinok upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for his commitment and service to his community WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and WHEREAS, Sadri Altinok has given not only of his time and energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Honorable Sadri Altinok upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for his commitment and service to his community, to be celebrated at the Lincoln-King Visionary Awards Gala, "From Dream to Greatness," on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square, New York; and WHEREAS, This auspicious community gala is held annually to unite the international community and to celebrate unity in diversity while recognizing community leaders for their services; and WHEREAS, Sadri Altinok has been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and WHEREAS, In 1987, Sadri Altinok graduated from the Naval Post Graduate School in California with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering; he worked in various high-tech companies in Silicon Valley and New York until 2005, before forming his own Telecommunication and TV services company, now serving as CEO of Signal Telecommunications; and WHEREAS, In 2006, Sadri Altinok served as a founding member of the Turkish Cultural Center NY, with branches on Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Staten Island; now the current President, TCCNY was formed to promote and foster lasting friendships based on having mutual respect for all, open dialogue, interfaith, and intercultural activities; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving his community, Sadri Altinok shows his passion for helping others and promoting interfaith and intercultural integration between communities by leading trips to Turkey, organizing a large business fair to bring people from several countries together, and participating in events held by the Long Island Multi Faith Forum (LIMFF) and co-chaired LIWINS, an Immigration Communication and Advocacy group in Nassau County; and WHEREAS, After the tragic events in Turkey in 2016, Sadri Altinok has been working with AST (Advocates of Silenced Turkey), a not-for-profit Human Rights advocacy and action group, and is serving on the board today; he is also a volunteer and contributor for the Embrace Relief and helped to build water wells, organize cataract surgeries for many in Africa and visited Haiti after the earthquake to support efforts to sustain orphanages, schools and a hospital; and WHEREAS, In addition, Sadri Altinok is currently a board member for the Suffolk County Muslim advisory board, helping with being a bridge between the community and the governmental organizations; he is also one of the founders of Abraham's Table org, which started in Manhattan and has been active on Long Island for the past nine years contributing to improving the dialogue between the communities with the participation of all Abrahamic faiths; and WHEREAS, With him throughout for 36 years has been his wife, Kimberley, and his four daughters, all of whom feel privileged to have been a part of his life and rejoiced in his many achievements; and WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a period of constructive involvement, Sadri Altinok has stood constant in dignity, good grace, and humor; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Sadri Altinok has displayed throughout his life; and WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to Sadri Altinok, that future generations may know and appreciate his admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Honorable Sadri Altinok upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Lincoln-King Visionary Award for his commitment and service to his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Honorable Sadri Altinok.
