       Introduced  by Sen. SQUADRON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections
       AN ACT to amend the  election  law,  in  relation  to  requiring  widely
         compatible software electronic filing of campaign receipts and expend-
         itures
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 9-A of section  3-102  of  the
    2  election  law, as amended by chapter 406 of the laws of 2005, is amended
    3  to read as follows:
    4    (a) develop an electronic reporting system to process  the  statements
    5  of campaign receipts, contributions, transfers and expenditures required
    6  to  be  filed  with any board of elections pursuant to the provisions of
    7  sections 14-102 and 14-104 of this  chapter  WHICH  IS  COMPATIBLE  WITH
    8  WIDELY  USED COMPUTER PROGRAMS WHICH PROCESS AND STORE INFORMATION SIMI-
    9  LAR TO THAT WHICH IS REQUIRED BY SUCH SECTIONS;
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
   11  it shall have become a law.
