       Introduced  by  Sen.  MARCELLINO  -- read twice and ordered printed, and
         when printed to be committed to the  Committee  on  Transportation  --
         committee  discharged,  bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and
         recommitted to said committee
       AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  requiring
         signage alerting motorists of red light cameras; and providing for the
         repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1.  The vehicle and traffic law is amended  by  adding  a  new
    2  section 1111-d to read as follows:
    3    S  1111-D. RED LIGHT CAMERA SIGNAGE REQUIRED. ANY CITY OR COUNTY OPER-
    4  ATING A DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM THAT IMPOSES  MONETARY  LIABILITY  ON  THE
    5  OWNER  OF  A  VEHICLE  FOR FAILURE OF AN OPERATOR THEREOF TO COMPLY WITH
    6  TRAFFIC-CONTROL INDICATIONS IN SUCH CITY  OR  COUNTY  PURSUANT  TO  THIS
    7  ARTICLE  SHALL REQUIRE SIGNAGE AT EACH INTERSECTION WHERE A TRAFFIC-CON-
    8  TROL SIGNAL PHOTO VIOLATION-MONITORING  DEVICE  IS  IN  OPERATION.  SUCH
    9  SIGNAGE  SHALL  WARN THAT A TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNAL PHOTO VIOLATION-MONI-
   10  TORING DEVICE IS OPERATING AT SUCH INTERSECTION.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
   12  it shall have become a law and shall expire December 1, 2014  when  upon
   13  such date the provisions of this act shall be deemed repealed. Effective
   14  immediately,  the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regu-
   15  lation necessary for the implementation of this  act  on  its  effective
   16  date is authorized to be made on or before such date.
