STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8073 IN SENATE January 5, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. JACKSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to requirements for issuing civil service examination announcements The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of section 50 of the civil 2 service law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2023 amending the 3 civil service law relating to requirements for issuing civil service 4 examination announcements, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 5 5486 and A. 6855, is amended to read as follows: 6 (b) In addition to any announcement required by paragraph (a) of this 7 subdivision, the department and municipal commissions shall [issue every8announcement] provide notice of each competitive examination to the 9 following entities if the entity is located within the same geographic 10 area as the department or commission: board of cooperative educational 11 services (BOCES), [high schools] school districts, public colleges, 12 public universities, local social services districts, and, to the extent 13 practicable, job training programs. In addition, the department and each 14 municipal commission shall allow any such entity to sign up to be noti- 15 fied electronically when an announcement is issued. 16 § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same 17 manner as a chapter of the laws of 2023 amending the civil service law 18 relating to requirements for issuing civil service examination announce- 19 ments, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 5486 and A. 6855, 20 takes effect.
