        Introduced  by  Sen.  PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Health

        AN ACT in relation to directing the commissioner of health to conduct  a
          sickle  cell  disparity  study;  and  providing for the repeal of such
          provisions upon expiration thereof

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. 1. The commissioner of health is authorized and directed to
     2  conduct a sickle cell disparity study.
     3    2.  Such  study  shall  determine whether there is a disparity between
     4  treatment accessibility and affordability for persons with  sickle  cell
     5  disease  and  persons  with  other  chronic illnesses, including but not
     6  limited to lupus, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
     7    3. Not later than eighteen months after the  effective  date  of  this
     8  act,  the  commissioner shall post the results of such study on the open
     9  health data section of the department of health's website.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall  expire  and  be
    11  deemed repealed two years after such effective date.
