STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8955 IN SENATE June 7, 2018 ___________ Introduced by Sen. ORTT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to autism screening for children three years of age and under The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The opening paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 2500-j of 2 the public health law, as added by chapter 335 of the laws of 2008, is 3 amended to read as follows: 4 The commissioner shall establish, for use by pediatric primary care 5 providers, best practice protocols for early screening of children for 6 autism spectrum disorders, including but not limited to developmental 7 screening for children three years of age and under. Such protocols 8 shall incorporate standards and guidelines established by the American 9 Academy of [Pediatricians] Pediatrics, shall be updated at least bienni- 10 ally, and shall include, but not be limited to: 11 § 2.
