A BILL
To amend section 1547.15 of the Revised Code to allow 1
operators of vessels to use rearview mirrors to 2
observe water skiers, barefoot skiers, and others 3
who are being towed by the vessels.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 1547.15 of the Revised Code be 5
amended to read as follows:6

       Sec. 1547.15.  Any person who operates a vessel towing any 7
person riding or attempting to ride upon one or more water skis or 8
upon a surfboard or similar device, or engaging or attempting to 9
engage in barefoot skiing, on the waters in this state shall have 10
present in the vessel aone or both of the following:11

       (A) A person or persons other than the operator, ten years of 12
age or older, who shall at all times observe the progress of the 13
person being towed;14

       (B) A rearview mirror mounted so that the operator can 15
observe the activities of the person being towed. The16

       The operator of the towing vessel shall at all times observe 17
the traffic pattern toward which the vessel is approaching.18

       No person shall operate or permit to be operated any vessel 19
on the waters in this state in violation of this section.20

       Section 2. That existing section 1547.15 of the Revised Code 21
is hereby repealed.22
