A RESOLUTION

Relative to the appointment of David E. Burke, to fill

the vacancy in the membership of the Senate

created by the resignation of Karen Gillmor of the

3

26th Senatorial District.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS, Section 11 of Article II, Ohio Constitution,	5
provides for the filling of a vacancy in the Senate by appointment	6
by the members of the Senate who are affiliated with the same	7
political party as the person last elected to the seat which has	8
become vacant; and	9

WHEREAS, Karen Gillmor of the 26th Senatorial District has	10
resigned as a member of the Senate effective July 12, 2011, thus	11
creating a vacancy in the Senate; now therefore be it	12

RESOLVED, By the members of the Senate who are affiliated	13
with the Republican party, that David E. Burke (Republican), having	14
the qualifications set forth in the Ohio Constitution and the laws	15
of Ohio to be a member of the Senate from the 26th Senatorial	16
District is hereby appointed, pursuant to Section 11 of Article	17
II, Ohio Constitution, as a member of the Senate from the 26th	18
Senatorial District, to fill the vacancy created by Karen Gillmor;	19
and be it further	20

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the	21
journal of the Senate together with the yeas and nays of the	22
members of the Senate affiliated with the Republican party voting	23
on the Resolution, and that the Clerk of the Senate shall certify	24
the Resolution and the vote on its adoption to the Secretary of	25
State.	26
