Directs state government bodies that request individuals to disclose Social Security numbers to inform individuals that Social Security numbers may be used in matching with other public records for purposes of state auditing. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to use of Social Security numbers in public audits. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2013 Act is added to and made a part of ORS 297.020 to 297.555. + } SECTION 2. { + (1) A state government body that requests disclosure of a Social Security number from an individual shall inform the individual that the Social Security number may be used in matching with other public records for purposes of conducting financial audits or performance and program audits of public accounts. (2) As used in this section: (a) 'Public body' has the meaning given that term in ORS 174.109. (b) 'State government' has the meaning given that term in ORS 174.111. (c) 'State government body' means a public body that is part of state government. + } SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 2013 Act applies to Social Security numbers disclosed to a state government body on or after the effective date of this 2013 Act. + } ----------
