AN ACT
1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, providing for special registration plates for
3retired veterans.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8§ 1370. Special plates for retired veterans.
9(a) General rule.--Upon application of any person who is an
10honorably discharged veteran of the armed forces of the United
11States and who has attained retired military status by serving
1220 years or more in the military or by having sustained a
13serious injury in combat, accompanied by a fee of $20 which
14shall be in addition to the annual registration fee and by such
15documentation as the department shall require, the department
16shall issue to the person a special registration plate
1designating the vehicle as belonging to a person who is a
2retired veteran of the armed forces of the United States. The
3department shall design and produce the special registration
4plate. The special registration plate may be used only on a
5passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not
6more than 14,000 pounds.
7(b) Documentation required.--An applicant for a retired
8veteran plate shall be required to produce to the department a
9federally issued military identification card denoting retired
10military status.
11Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
