A RESOLUTION

Designating April 6, 2011, as "PANO Nonprofit Advocacy Day on

the Hill" in Pennsylvania, and April 4 through 9, 2011, as

3

"Pennsylvania Nonprofit Advocacy Week."

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit

5

Organizations (PANO) serves and advances Pennsylvania's

6

nonprofit sector through leadership, advocacy, education and

7

services; and

8

WHEREAS, There is a need for Pennsylvania's nonprofit

9

organizations to plan for future community challenges and to

10

plan how they will address those future concerns; and

11

WHEREAS, In these hard economic times, Pennsylvania's

12

nonprofit organizations are struggling and there is an increased

13

need for their services; and

14

WHEREAS, PANO provides technical assistance for nonprofit

15

organizations to increase their organization's effectiveness;

and

WHEREAS, PANO urges nonprofit organizations to grow and to

3

continue their advocacy efforts; and

4

WHEREAS, It is necessary for Pennsylvania's nonprofits to

5

educate their legislators regarding the benefits of nonprofit

6

organizations and the need for responsible public policy;

7

therefore be it

8

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April

9

6, 2011, as "PANO Nonprofit Advocacy Day on the Hill" in

10

Pennsylvania, and April 4 through 9, 2011, as "Pennsylvania

11

Nonprofit Advocacy Week" to allow nonprofit organizations to

12

meet with local legislators, voice their concerns, network with

13

other nonprofit organizations and learn how to advance their

14

organization.
