| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring PRWT Services, Inc., on its selection as Black |
2 | Entertainment's 2009 Industrial/Service Company of the Year |
3 | for its continued growth and success. |
4 | WHEREAS, PRWT Services, Inc., is one of the nation's fastest |
5 | growing minority enterprises; and |
6 | WHEREAS, For eight consecutive years, PRWT Services, Inc., |
7 | has been named one of Black Entertainment's Top 100 |
8 | Industrial/Service Companies in America; and |
9 | WHEREAS, While growing in a manner that encompasses |
10 | entrepreneurial diversity, socially responsible growth and |
11 | superior quality products and service, PRWT Services, Inc., has |
12 | remained true to its core values; and |
13 | WHEREAS, PRWT Services, Inc., has managed to develop from a |
14 | single account to one of the largest minority firms in this |
15 | nation; and |
16 | WHEREAS, With 2008 sales totaling $165 million, PRWT |
17 | Services, Inc., employs 1,300 in ten states and Washington, |

1 | D.C., and provides services in operations support, technical |
2 | services, software products and partnership management; and |
3 | WHEREAS, In 2008, PRWT Services, Inc., transformed adversity |
4 | into opportunity and forged an agreement with Merck to take over |
5 | the drug company's Riverside plant and created a major new |
6 | subsidiary, Cherokee Pharmaceuticals LLC, becoming the first |
7 | minority-owned manufacturer of pharmaceutical products in the |
8 | United States and preserving nearly 400 jobs in the process; and |
9 | WHEREAS, With the recent unification with KBL Healthcare |
10 | Acquisition Corp. III, PRWT Services, Inc., is poised to make |
11 | the transition to one of the major stock exchanges as a publicly |
12 | traded company; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Willie F. Johnson founded PRWT Services, Inc., in |
14 | 1988 and has been its chairman since its inception; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was honored by Ernst & Young in June |
16 | 2009, when it announced that he was the recipient of the |
17 | Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Business Services in the |
18 | Greater Philadelphia Region; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Prior to founding PRWT Services, Inc., Mr. Johnson |
20 | was the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Systems, |
21 | Inc., a cable/line construction company; and |
22 | WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is a board member of the Cheyney |
23 | University Foundation, Girard College, the African-American |
24 | Chamber of Commerce and his alma mater, Allen University; and |
25 | WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson previously served as the commissioner of |
26 | the Office of Social Services for the Commonwealth of |
27 | Pennsylvania, as well as the executive director of the Office of |
28 | Employment and Training under the Office of the Mayor for the |
29 | City of Philadelphia; therefore be it |
30 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Willie |

1 | F. Johnson for his extensive community involvement, his |
2 | extraordinary business acumen and his commitment to academia, as |
3 | well as the creation of numerous economic opportunities for his |
4 | fellow citizens; and be it further |
5 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives pay homage to |
6 | PRWT Services, Inc., on its remarkable 20-year evolution from a |
7 | single account holder in 1988 to being cited as Black |
8 | Entertainment's 2009 Industrial/Service Company of the Year. |
